alex,
I learned mostly about silicone through the effects lab forums. Here's the link if you want to check it out for yourself http://www.theeffectslab.com/

I haven't received my copy of Ken's book yet, (today maybe?) but I do know a little about what's in it... cuz I wrote part of it. :) But my part mostly deals with the mechanics of facial expressions. I'm not really sure what Ken wrote with regard to my participation because we had a really long interview on Skype and I wrote some stuff and sent him some photos. I'm sure he only used a small percentage of what I sent so, I can't wait to see the book.

I don't know of any video tutorials but I'll take the chance to plug Ken Priebe's new book, it has some good info on silicone.

Hmmmm, I don't know of any silicone stop motion puppet videos but I have seen videos for using silicone for casting prosthetic make-up effects. That's sort of the reason I started this group, because silicone has been widely used in creature effects (live action), make-up effects and even stop motion puppets for films like Corpse Bride and Coraline but, it hasn't been used so much by newbies and stop motion hobbyists.

I'll post some links to silicone casting videos when I get a chance to look for some. They won't be for stop motion puppets in particular but, the info is really all the same... almost. The biggest difference I can think of is that when you cast a stop motion puppet, you need to (in most cases) place an armature in the mold and that CAN complicate things.

I really wish I had time to make a silicone casting video but for now, this group is the best I can do. :)
