I *Love* This Work Because...

I'm absolutely besotted with the work of Jan Švankmajer, Tobias Stretch, The Bolex Brothers and many others who'll I'll kick myself for not mentioning once I press the 'Save' button. All of these practitioners use pixilation and/or timelapse techniques in their work to create surreal, uncanny worlds and characters. I'd love to know who you're interested in... and why!

Hey, nice group. I love pixilation because, for me, it hearkens back to the first days of film making and trick films made using the stop-motion substitution technique. People like Jan Svankmajer managed to instill that sense of magic and wonderment in their films that people must of felt when they saw early trick films like the Haunted Hotel. Animation today feels like its lost that sense of magic.
