one thing I've learned is that cardboard is a good set building material for a low budget.

The best cardboard to use for buildings is electronics packaging. It already looks like it could be a building, I made a tavern once by just painting some cardboard from my I-Pod dock's packaging in grey and brown.

u could also wall paper it to make it look like u didn't spend 3 minutes on it or if it's a cement wall cover the card board in a thin layer of air dry clay and then give it a paint job...(remember to sand it)

Sam,
The card stock on cereal boxes is my favorite thing to use as walls; that and foam poster board, mostly because you can air brush or spray paint them and they won't warp or wrinkle.
