Description

I'll be placing updates here on the progress of the creation of the new Sinbad film which will be featuring some stop motion creature sequences by Yours' Truly. :)

As this film is currently in production, I'm limited as to what I can say about the film's contents but, whenever I can bring you any news about the film's progress, I will be happy to bring it to you here!

Look us up on Facebook too!

Hey Guys, I come bearing poor news... the new preview for the Sinbad film is gonna endure an undetermined release delay. An executive decision has been made on the part of the Producer and potential distributor to hold off on releasing the preview until a fixed date of release can be determined for the entire film.

Sorry I wet your appetites for the new stuff to see but, I actually think it was a wise decision - releasing too many visuals too far in advance of an actual release can be counterproductive so, I reluctantly agree with the decision that was made. :(

Ken, I wish I could tell you what 'soon' means, I wish I knew myself. All I can say for certain is that they are in the final stages of post production work and working as hard as they can to put this thing to bed.

Ironic, I was looking at this page the other day to see if I missed any updates. It's nice to hear the the film is still in progression! I can't wait to see it!

Good luck Ron, that stinks about your computer. Hope you get that replacement and it works out, I sometimes hate how technology fails at the worst times too.

Naaaaaa... these guys are good. :)

That's great Ron. I'd be reluctant to cut up a puppet too, especially doing a long distance shoot where you won't know if the director will want a second take. Can't wait to finally see those shots on the big screen......or DVD....whichever they choose in the end.

I've already comped all the shots where that's important. There's just one shot where I have a worry about exposure but, it should be fine.

I'm so excited to see more animation! You're work is amazing and has inspired me! You can do this Mr. Cole!

Ken - Yes, I suppose it's OK for me to say publicly that I'm animating the puppet with the six arms. She's not fighting (yet) but any animation with her is tedious! That's because the six arms make it difficult to find a place to grab to turn her torso and mostly it's because of the tips of the six swords. Any move I make with this puppet affects the positions of the tips of those swords, so to make the animation as smooth as it needs to be, I need to check and recheck the tip registration many times before shooting a frame. That's hard enough to deal with in a shot where she has both feet planted on the floor but, while she's walking... that just get's crazy! I don't think there's any chance of another preview being released any time soon. The effects will take a long time to composite and produce because there are layers of effects that all need to be completed and compiled into every frame. There will also be digital matte paintings, set extensions and atmospheric set 'enhancements' which will also need to be put into most shots so, don't hold your breath while you wait.

Rubber Bands? That must be a nightmare. Depending on how much the servicing fee is, you may just want to replace the camera. Best Buy has an 18 month pay no interest plan going on at the moment. I picked up the Nikon D90 not too long ago and it works great. If you're already working with nikon lenses, I think a new body is only 7 or $800.00.

Good luck with the shoot

Naaa, it's just a loose connection, I'm sure it's a quick fix.

Ken,
I can't wait to see this film! If what was seen in the trailer was only test footage, I can't imagine how fantastic the final result will look! What is the more complicated character? Is it the one with multiple arms? I saw one on the poster.

You should do what Paranormal Activity did, when it was finished it wasnt indended to make it big, it was just a student progect. So they sent a copy to Steven Spielberg and he loved it, so they held a pettition online to get it into cinema's all around the globe. So with its raging review from Steven and millions wanting to see it after viewing a few trailers it went to just about every cinema and made $7m on its first weekend! I think this film could get estimates like that if not more! I'm crossing my fingers perminantly till.
