Marc SpessMarc Spess on Friday, 10 June 2011 10:26

Hey Cool, try burmanfoam.com, they sell all sorts of stuff. Silicones, paints, foams.....just about everything.

Hi Marc. I am thinking about buying "Foam Latex Puppet Making 101" but I don't know where I can get my hands on some.

Alex
Marc. I noticed that you are using a Lunchbox DV to film Zombie Pirates. Can you give me some info on it, where I can get it and how much it would cost? Thanks.
Marc SpessMarc Spess on Saturday, 04 June 2011 21:20

Hi Alex, animationtoolworks.com is where I bought it. I don't recommend them if you have a spare lap top and can use capture software like Stop Motion pro or Dragon.

Hey Marc. When will Zombie Pirates be done and where can I see it? From your behind the scenes video it looks great. Keep up the good work.
Marc SpessMarc Spess on Saturday, 04 June 2011 21:20

Well I have to make a few sculpting revisions for the current client of mine. Then I am going to complete the animation DVD project. After that it's back to Zombie Pirates again.

Hans Lettany
Hey Marc,
I follow the site and the liveshows for a while now, but just made my account today...
I was wondering if you already tested the b&s parts you had from the piercing supply and showed us a few weeks ago in the liveshow... Mayebe something to talk about next week?

greetings from Belgium,
Hans.
Marc SpessMarc Spess on Sunday, 29 May 2011 10:31

Hi Hans, those balls work perfectly fine. Actually they will be compatible with the ArmatureFX joints we are getting soon. But Wes, our supplier says the balls that come with them will be of comparable quality. I'm not sure, I still need to wait when we get them to test that out. Yeah maybe we can chat about it if you're interested.

m_) stopping by to say hi, Marc! hope everything is well here.
Marc SpessMarc Spess on Sunday, 29 May 2011 10:29

Hi Metal, things are going good here and on the site. Thanks for asking! Did you find the right tools to cut those joints? They have a sale on a milling machine at micromark.com for 299 USD. It's the best price I've ever seen.

Jack,
Hey Marc, do you know anyone or perhaps where I could find someone that would make music for my movie for no charge? Any suggestions?
Marc SpessMarc Spess on Monday, 16 May 2011 05:39

Hmmm, not off the top of my head. You might ask Don Carlson, do you know him? He may or may not charge, but he does offer some really good musical services.

JackJack on Monday, 16 May 2011 08:43

Alright cool, do you know where I could contact him?
Thank you Marc

o then i guess that was a blooper.

Cool Guy
That is the point cause the wax keeps the clay from falling off.
Jordan WadeJordan Wade on Friday, 13 May 2011 06:35

no i meant the wax will harden and you cant move the armature, just use it for the sculpt

Friday, 13 May 2011 05:11

Cool Guy
I think I found an easy way of making armatures which requires you not having to make one. I think that if you melt bee wax on a wooden mannequin then make your character on top of the bee wax by adding the clay and all it could serve as a good armature.
Jordan WadeJordan Wade on Thursday, 12 May 2011 20:47

but wouldnt the wax harden?

Animator Guy
Hi I Marc Spess I just had a question, what is the cheapest digital camera that is good for clay animation?
Marc SpessMarc Spess on Friday, 13 May 2011 17:29

The cheapest? I'm not sure since I haven't looked for a new one myself. But Olympus makes some pretty good ones. I own the C-5050 Z and the price for it is probably down since the time I bought it.

Marc I am sorry for all my comments but I was just wondering if you could help me with making clothing for my characters.
Marc SpessMarc Spess on Tuesday, 10 May 2011 21:14

Hey Cool Guy, I'm not an expert with clothing. I know how to sculpt it, but I'm not good with sewing. I prefer hot glue. One thing you might try though is getting thin fabric gloves. They make good shirts if you cut one of the fingers out in the middle and on the sides.

Cool Guy
OK I understand

Cool Guy
So when would you say that your new How To Animate Puppets DVD will be purchasable (just an estimate).
Marc SpessMarc Spess on Sunday, 08 May 2011 14:21

Well I've still got to set up the garage, so a few days left for that. Then the sculpting job, maybe a week and a half. Then finally I can start to make the DVD. If I give a date, that's usually when people give me things to do. So I'll try not to jinx it this time and say it will be done when it's done :)

Thomas
I've bought and watched nearly every one of your videos. Just wanted to say they've been very inspirational, especially the sculpting video and how you take it from paper images to clay.
Marc SpessMarc Spess on Sunday, 08 May 2011 00:21

Thanks Thomas, I'm glad the videos helped you!

Cool Guy
When will work on Zombie Pirates pick up since now you have moved into your new house.
Marc SpessMarc Spess on Sunday, 08 May 2011 00:21

The plan is once I'm all finished setting up the new studio garage - I'm re-making the how to animate puppets DVD. Then Zombie Pirates will be worked on once again. I can't wait.

Dan,
Hey Marc, love the eyes by the way. Now my character looks great. messages I write on images and videos don't show up, but they still are on the recent activity list. Just a bug you might be able to fix. Dan
