Story Plot Once upon a time on a high hill in an old castle lived a determined aged scientist called Homunculus. As every full moon night, he investigates a clone experiment. The wish to produce a double of himself leads Homunculus in a dark and unknown area. This night, he experiences a rather unexpected and shocking situation, something he wouldn't have dreamed of... Technique Homunculus: The Clone Experiment is a Stop motion animation film. A few sequences are a combination of real footage and animation, shot with the canon 5D HD 1080. Whilst the picture sequences have been shot in double frames, the real footages has been converted a lower framer rate, approximately 10 frames per second. The character is made of a wooden skeleton with all usual humans' joints. This allowed to move the character accurate and in a realistic manner. The head, face and hands were merely crafted with Newplast clay. Homunculus / Homunculi A Homunculus is a term used in different fields of study to indicate a human being. It merely accrues in the study of alchemy and preformation, psychology and science. It also has become a concept of miniature, since homunculus represents a little version of a human. Homunculus has its roots in Latin and stays for "little man"(Latin Homo = Human). A homunculus proportions are different to a human being, caused by its scientific usage. A homunculus can be understood as a sensory map of a human body. It presents each part of his body by proportion to its number of sensory neural connections.
