Animation Competition (Deadline: March 21, 2012)

The Computer Science Student Network (CS2N) www.cs2n.org,  is hosting a nationwide animation competition for all ages.  The theme, “Save the World in 60 Seconds”, invites participants to create a one minute (or less) animation about how they would reduce, recycle, reuse, restore, and/or replenish in order to make the world a better place.  There will be multiple winners from all age levels and every state. Each winner will receive a free copy of ROBOTC Virtual Worlds.  Animation submissions will be accepted through March 21, 2012.  Competition winners will be announced on April 22nd, Earth Day.





WHO CAN ENTER
The competition is open to everyone from formal, informal, and hobbyist networks.  There will be winners from every state in the elementary, middle school, high school, and adult levels.

FREE SOFTWARE AND TRAINING
Although the competition will accept animations created using any technique, the CS2N offers free online training, support, and access to ALICE software and SAM Animation software, both free to download and use.  More information about the competition can be found at www.cs2n.org/competitions.

ABOUT CS2N
CS2N is a joint project between researchers at Carnegie Mellon, the University of Pittsburgh, and Carnegie Mellon’s Robotics Academy.  The project is sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) with the goal to inspire more students to study Computer Science, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics the tools of innovation.  For more information, go to www.cs2n.org .  All students are encouraged to take part in CS2N activities which include learning basic programming, animations, game making, and robotics.
