Music syncing with a animation? How do you do it?
Hey guys, I was just wondering if you guys could help me out. Im trying to edit a 2d stop motion animation but i cant seem to figure out how to sync the animation intime with the music. This needs to be done for my major school work and any suggestions would help.
Cheers. Luke.

well it helps if u have a stop motion program that can do that. like istopmotion http://www.boinx.com/istopmotion/overview/ and it's a pretty nice program if your a mac user... sorry i don't no about pc maybe check out stop motion pro or dragon...
Re: Music syncing with a animation? How do you do it?
So have you done the actual animation and are now trying to sync it to music, or do you want to animate it to music?
I've never used Dragon to sync my sound, but I hear the audio quality comes out rather lousy when you export. You can probably use it for the animation process though, and then lay on the music in another program. You may want to consider exporting your animation files into film editing software like FinalCut Pro and doing the final sync there. It's really expensive to buy, but if you only need it for one project you could download a trial version. I use it for my films and it is really easy and efficient. If you want to go for something simpler and are a mac user, iMovie is probably the way to go. FrameThief is a decent free stop motion program for pc, but I'm not sure if does audio syncing.
I hope you find a good solution. Good luck with your project!

I'm a bit late joining this but I can add that MonkeyJam and Stop Motion Pro allow you to import an audio track as a waveform down the side of your animation exposure chart. So you can see the beats in the music alongside the frame number if you're animating to music or dialogue. You can scrub your mouse up and down the soundtrack to listen to it and add little notes for yourself eg: lip moves, parts of words, emphasis etc.
