Istopmotion with Canon 450D
I"m on a mac running os 10.5.8, I have istopmotion 2.5 and according to the Boinx site I should be able to use my Canon 450D for capture. Apparently my camera should be in ptp mode but can't find any reference to this in any Canon stuff and can't get it to work. I've tried having live view running in the Eos utilities software. Any ideas most welcome.
Re: Istopmotion with Canon 450D
You won't be able to get live view between a DSLR camera and iStopMotion. I know, I contacted them about it and here is the exact reply:
"no, we can't. Apple's Quicktime framework which we use for connecting the camera does not deliver live preview for still cameras."
In my head, I was thinking, "well, Dragon Stop Motion can do it. . ."
So, are you saying the problem is that iStopMotion doesn't pick up the camera, or just no live view? It should be able to read the camera (if you connect the camera to the computer before you start up iStopMotion).
Re: Istopmotion with Canon 450D
It pretty much makes me furious too that iStopMotion doesn't support Live View...I have tried with my D90 which allows for it using Dragon Stop motion just fine.
Good thing I don't use live view though, it just uses too much juice. I usually shoot all of my frames, then import them to the computer, save them in a separate place and then put them in iStopMotion...
Re: Istopmotion with Canon 450D
I'm running the latest version of OS X, still doesn't communicate Live View with my D90.
I literally wound up making a hack of an old webcam mounted onto my SLR for that reason... Titlehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUHMnpxMu74
[/url]I saw the idea on another website, but it cost WAY too much, so I did some ghetto-rigging!
