Permanent rig
Permanent rig
Hi everybody,
I was reading the forum thread linked below because I had the same doubt as the autor had had:
http://www.animateclay.com/index.php/forums/topic?id=48
But I seemed the the best solution is the permanent rig because can be used to for jumps and similar actions and don't involve any hole in the set.
So I would like to know the best way to build a rig and attach it to a homemade armature (yes, I prefer all stuff homemade for budget reasons),
because i thought in making something seemed to a classic tie-down coming out from the back but it means that the rig should be a rigid threaded rod, and if the rig was a resistent wire it would be flexible but difficult to attach satisfactorily to the armature.
By the way I'm talking about clay puppets.
Thanks a lot!
Re: Permanent rig
So you want a rig instead of tie-downs?
This is a helpful tutorial, though not exactly what you want: http://www.darkstrider.net/Minirig.html
It will get you very far, since the idea is the same - the only difference is you'd want a beam that can hold your character, grab it, screw into it, etc.
Re: Permanent rig
Well, it happened some time, but I think I got a solution (or prototype of solution).
My cousin had the idea of using a tool he had for warhammer that consists in a base with a lens and tweezers holded by ball and socket arms:
I hope I can upload some cool video soon!
