I thought the 9000 was very good but the C910 takes it into another world

As for software - I use Stop Motion Pro HD - It's about as good as you get but you do have to pay  - worth every penny though. I am also one of the old school - originally film then digital snapshots edited on Sony Vegas - The word Onion skinning wasn't invented. But progress is progress and must be embraced otherwise we'd still be winding the handles on our cine cameras.

You could try Stop Motion Recorder. Needs a Windows platform and Java to be installed. You can pick up webcams very cheap for starters -- ask around, someone might be giving one away or selling for next to nothing.
