MMC Poll # 001 - Defining Animator

Welcome to Metalmadcat Polls Show

m_)  Here we'll experience a most uncertain polletry's Journey. You think you can handle it? No guarantees where this can lead into, but surely is the best part of it.
m_) Who knows! you may find yourself animating one of them, or just easily amused by some, and disappointed by others. Poll # 001 We'll focus on "How to define an animator". Feel free to discuss this.
m_) Whichever response you pick, make sure you support it with some good explanation.
m_) Well, here comes mine:
m_) I chose "  To observe life in a humble yet playful kind of way "

m_) I consider myself, for the most part,  an observer and I believe animators' main task is to observe life in several ways. You can take many routes, or you can mix them all, but you rather know what you are looking at. At times you'll need more than just observation, and at times you can't go anywhere without patience. In the end, however, observation is what matters the most and best define what an animator really is. Whether you are hysterically passionate, or willing to entertain most kids, or just feeling like animating some garbage from last night left overs...you mainly want to be an OBSERVER if you want to be an ANIMATOR.

Re: MMC Poll # 001 - Defining Animator

OK -- this is me with my pedant's hat on. I'm no statistician, but in a previous life I did do a lot of computer-based training/eLearning work. I learnt that, if you are going to ask multiple-choice questions, you have to make them relate to each other in a meaningful way. Metalmadcat, you chose the response that suited you -- but it seems like this was your preferred answer all along, and all the other possible responses in the poll are throwaway lines just to make up the numbers. That's fine; it's your poll, after all. But the answers are not going to be meaningful. And a poll without meaning is like bread without yeast -- flat.

Hey -- it's just my opinion!

Hey -- it's just my opinion!

m_) Now, my question is: how do you know I did purposely have only one that suited me and the rest being the unrelated ones? It may just read and be that way to you, but the truth is, while I made each one of them, I was not really trying to put all random answers with only one being the correct. I actually find hysterically passionate being one of the answers, as much as it could also be possible to entertain most kids, or to animate trash being valid to be animator (because most of them require the process to animate)
m_) Maybe it is just me but I think an animator can really be seen as either one of those, but I was not just thinking one way to put it, but the most important, probably. In other words, you could be a good observer, but not being passionate may really take you out of the animator spectrum archetype yet this may not be as crucial since no one said what makes the "best" animator....

m_) Then you could argue that none of the answers talks about quality but "qualities of a character" and this indeed going onto that direction instead.
m_)  Maybe I happen to defend my choice quite a lot that it appears to be the one-way to go, yet it could be as fake or as incorrect ---that is just my opinion, rather than giving the correct choice.
m_) All choices were purposely made to let the choicer to come up with a good explanation that he or she can can defend as much as I did.

m_) Thanks for your participation in this Metalmadcat polletry's journey experience.

I would listen to jahnocli...

But jahnocli, since you are new here: MetalMadCat is just weird, as in, he makes the most random, pointless, yet shortly entertaining polls. They aren't for any study or anything, or true opinion... (Just say to yourself "MMC is weird" and then you'll understand the poll). smile

Re: MMC Poll # 001 - Defining Animator

yes to observe life in a playful type of way then you choose from three choises they are :
1. funny
2. Scary
3. Violent

and its kinda like a filter you take stuff from the real world then look at it from one of those 3 choices and totally mess it up make it look nothing like real life and recreate that in stop motion yep animators pretty much just make there own world where they can have fun in there mind then make it into a film animators are people that have imaginary worlds! I love being an animator big_smile

Ha ha! Well, MMC's poll wasn't scary or violent, so it must have been funny! I promise to try not to take them seriously in future...

Re: MMC Poll # 001 - Defining Animator

m_) I guess you can put it that way, Jess
m_) I leave in the audience's hand the opportunity to pick the range of seriousness.
m_) Just so there is no confusion, seriously.
