best stop motion software

best stop motion software

hey guys, im new here, im looking for a software for stop motion, open source, or free. please let me know some so i can try them all and see which one suits me better.

i already tried stop motion pro but it crashes all the time :S anybody knows why?

I assume you are running on Windows...
Try Helium Frog or Anasazi. There are also demo versions of many programs out there...

I just started playing around with an iPhone app called iMotion that creates stop-motion and time-lapse movies. Of course, this might not be helpful to you if you don't have an iPhone, but it's pretty cool and just .99 cents for those of you that do.

stop motion pro crashes on me too but it auto saves so I really dont care It is still the best infact today it already crashed twice!

AnimatorDV is free and good. Although it may take a little why to get used to the format if you haven't used a capture program before. The only thing I would say though, is I wouldn't recommend upgrading from AnimatorDV to AnimatorHD when you feel like upgrading and paying for your software. It gets the job done, but I find it to be a little buggy.

This is for Windows by the way.

Try StopMoJo or Stop Motion Recorder. They are both freeware. StopMoJo is cross-platform, Stop Motion Recorder is Windows only (and you need Java installed).

I'll second the AnimatorDV notion.
Although it was a little weird, I bought AnimatorHD Home and it's pretty much exactly the same as the free version, only with higher resolution and a fiddly dope-sheet function that I've never bothered to use.
