September 2010 Challenge
Re: September 2010 Challenge
If I were on the jury I would put mine in 3rd place. I felt I did the actual throw fairly well but that's all it was, an exercise. Mohviv's would come second - it had a story which was clearly told, and a little twist at the end with the onion tears. F and S Studios would get my vote for the gold medal, because it both tells a good story, and does the most with the knife throwing. It had that nice little toss up in the air and catch, which built up to the main throw. A throw is such a quick thing, so adding that gave more time to get a sense of the weight of the knife. And the timing felt good on the throws.
In the end it's more about participating and pushing our animation skills than winning prizes, and all of us who actually did a submission are winners.
Re: September 2010 Challenge
Alrighty guys, it is a very close match for me to pick as well. I think Nick is being humble as well as the rest of you - and that's ok. It is all about becoming better. So consider yourselves all winners this time around.
I've chosen the new theme for October, hopefully it will be interesting enough. It's titled....
confusion
It is more of an acting skill to have a puppet seem confused than it is about an animated action. So expressions will probably be key.
Re: September 2010 Challenge
Hey guys, it was great fun to participate - and for me, it was a great reason to get into stop motion again. I fully agree with all of you and also see these challenges as nice little encourages to practice some animation and improve. Thanks for all the comments and thanks to FandS and Nick for your contributions. I look forward to the next challenge, really great topic Marc. It will be interesting to see how this will be tackled!!!
