Neomorphus and Making of

Neomorphus

Once in a while a grungy stop motion film comes along that you can't take your eyes off of.

Neomorphus is one of those films. The sets, puppets, lighting and animation draw you into a new world almost as soon as it starts. The premise behind the film is different characters evolving rapidly and adapting to the mutating surroundings and issues that arise.

You might expect this film was made in Germany, Poland or Russia. But it is in fact made in Brasil by the team Animatorio. They have an official site for the film that you can see here with the videos below and a small gallery. Here is the film itself.

Below is the behind the scenes for the project. You can see some pop-throughs, 2-D reference animation and the motion control setup. There are also some deleted scenes that the director wasn't happy with.

Eerily Amazing & Nightmarishly Stunning! (in the best sense of the terms, of course)

It might be a mistake for me to attempt to write any words to describe what I think of this film because it speaks volumes for itself, every time you watch it. Each individual shot in this film is it's own independent work of art, worthy of a full panel discussion.

If I were forced to pick one element of this film that I like the most, it would be the animation itself. In watching it, I just know that these animators could animate white b***s rolling around on a white table, and somehow make it jaw-dropping. BRAVO!!! smilies/cheesy.gif

(the censored word 'b***s' in the above comment is another word for 'spheres' but, I think the censorship gods interpreted it in a different way smilies/cry.gif)

Wow, that was an interesting film. Really nice colorization and style, kind of freaky too.

STUNNING! I haven't seen anything as good as this for a long time, stop motion should come back with a bang, I'm sick of all of these 3D films coming out, bring out the good stuff!
