Clay Classics - Will Vinton's Rip Van Winkle

A classic film done in a classic way, using all clay has emerged on the internet.

If you want to see where Claymation began in America, look no further than Rip Van Winkle by Will Vinton. Will had a vision to make everything in clay, from sets, puppets and props. You can't get much more purist than that. Everything that came after this film led to Claymation becoming a house hold term, especially when the California Raisins took off. love this, very inspiring. I love that old Vinton feel where the clay isn't quite so smooth. Kind of makes you want to reach out into the screen and smooth the clay yourself brings you into the movie a little bit more

I bought it on DVD about a year ago! Great film, loved the style of the animation especially!

Yes, I own this on DVD too. I look to this funky style when I want to be inspired. The smooth style just doesn't look as tactile and inviting to me, or give me the sense of childlike play.
