Guido by William Powell

Guido

William has just completed a quirky short film called Guido. How did he do it? Let's find out...

While Guido is a very short film I think it shows a lot of interesting elements. Williams blog that you can visit here gives a lot of details about how you can get around problems and pit falls in a production. Since each production is unique it really takes a certain mind set to get through all that stop motion throws at you when you least expect it. In Wills case, his armature lost tension in the puppets lower half and he slumped over during an animated walk. It happens to everyone, so the blog definitely shows how patience and persistence help you make it through and turn things into a positive experience. Below you can watch the film, and again here is a direct link to his blog.

Like watching an animated Muppet. This was fun!

He's got his own style, and very fluid movement. But beyond that, I could definitely feel the spirit of the animator. I don't think I've ever seen a puppet move quite like that. It reminded me of rod puppetry... Like someone put the soul of Kermit the Frog into this puppet's body. The movements were clear, quick, and floppy. Very enjoyable!

Lovely flow to the animation, it wasn't like any generic stop motion puppet I've seen; as the other comment mentions it was 'floppy' like a Muppet character (but this is not a bad thing, if anything it's bloody fantastic). The set and general environment he 'lives' in looks really great. Would love to see more of this chap.
