Known as Animatoste on his YouTube channel here, Juan Alvarado tries his best to make stop motion films with a limited supply of materials. It's not easy to find special aluminum armature wire in Costa Rica or silicone for molds. This presents unique obstacles that require creativity above and beyond the norm. In this interview, Juan talks about his puppet construction methods, armature making, music, foley and of course his films and experiments. His films lean towards a spiritual/sci-fi-psychedelic look and theme which is unique in stop motion. Here is one of Juans latest animations.
