Eli Noyes may not be a household name, but he was one of the first clay animators to receive an Oscar nomination. This was a major historical milestone back in 1965 for the film above called Clay, or the Origin of Species. It helped put stop motion in the spotlight, plus it helped show what is possible with morphs using clay. Not to mention helped inspire future creatives to consider using Plasticine to tell a story.
The Hollywood Reporter has an article that details more of his life and film making accomplishments here.
