What do directors do when they direct a film which takes six years to make? Andymation talks with Sam Fell about his work on Chicken Run, Dawn of the Nugget. He has thoughts about a number of topics, such as how much he should be involved verses letting animators do what they like. Also the importance of the puppet expressions, little nuances to the eyes and nudging artists in the right direction. He also goes into his personal approach and feelings about being confident in his own abilities after thirty years in the industry.
